Artists Statement
Observational drawing has always been at the core of what I do, whether it is illustrating, painting or printmaking. My linocuts are intricately carved and multi-layered and are printed using a Harry F Rochat Albion Press in my studio in Norwich.
Each linocut begins with an observational drawing focusing on how light creates form. The designs are worked up through multiple sketches to plan for the many individual colour layers before carving begins.
