Susan’s paintings and abstract prints draw on the landscape for inspiration, to create atmosphere, drama and emotion. Creating personal landscapes infused with a sense of mystery, vitality, colour and  space.  The prints are on the whole Monoprints or Monotypes, each unique like a painting, they evolve over time, sometimes printed direct from the landscape, found objects, and ephemera,  reflecting the beauty and contrast of both the natural and the man-made.

Susan is both fascinated and intrigued by the new and extended life given to such found objects and their visual impact through print.

These prints are made up of many layers, incorporating multiple techniques,  each layer  a response to the last, creating new, unique, and exciting landscapes.

Sue is also the owner of Stoneman Press located close to Saffron Walden, It is a small, friendly, well equipped printmaking studio, offering a broad range of printing techniques and creative workshops for all abilities run by Sue.

Sue has extensive experience developing and delivering printmaking workshops for artists, schools, museums, galleries, including the British Museum, Kettles Yard, artist residencies and technical knowledge.

Sue currently teaches at Gainsborough House, ACE Foundation Stapleford Granary, Cambridge Art Makers and is an Artist Facilitator for Kettles Yard, Cambridge University.  Sue is a founder or the Cambridge Original Printmakers Biennale, an exhibition promoting hand pulled original print in the region.
